|Name: ||Camp Cuyuna|
|Description:||Cuyuna Scout Camp is located in scenic North Central Minnesota. The camp is on 640 acres north of Brainerd and just outside of Crosslake. There are 5 beautiful lakes that border on the camp and one, Russel Lake, which is fully within camp boundaries. It is not unheard of to see eagles, and loons are a common occurrence. The camp has 14 developed campsites which are designed for a group to operate under patrol method. The camp boasts a beautiful wooded area and is known for its birch and pine trees. |
Ever wonder how people survived before the days of computers, cars, and even electricity? Well, at Cuyuna Scout Camp there will be a great way to find out in our "Foxfire Logging Camp". Here you can work on your handicraft merit badges such as: metalwork, basketry, woodcarving, leatherwork, Indian lore, and so much more. Throw tomahawks and fire black powder rifles-see who is the best shot; learn the art of story-telling and string a few "yarns"; make lye soap and candles too. We even have a forge so you can learn about blacksmithing and get the chance to brand your boots. Experience the life of a lumberjack in our great north woods.
Come experience Cuyuna Scout Camp and find out what scouts all over the Midwest already know - "Cuyuna is a camp you'll remember for a lifetime."
Limited financial help is available for Twin Valley Council Troops on an individual basis for scouts who could not otherwise go to camp due to financial hardships.
If you know of some scout in your troop, please contact the Center for Scouting for a campership application. These forms are to be filled out and approved by the unit leader and submitted to the Service Center for review BEFORE your troop attends camp.
No scout will be denied the opportunity to attend any of the council's summer camp programs due to financial need.
